Lady Knights Fall Just Short While Short-Handed
Grayson, KY – After a couple of weeks of road tests for our Lady Knights, they returned to Ron Arnett Court to face the Lady Royals of Johnson University in what shaped up to be a competitive contest.
A slow start put the Lady Knights behind, but they were not deterred, keeping the game close at halftime, where the Lady Royals held a 29-21 lead. Playing without starter Ragan Adkins, as well as key bench contributors Taylor Isaac and Samantha Wells due to injury, we saw the depth and heart our Lady Knights possess as they won each of the 3rd and 4th quarters of the ball game.
Lakyn Adkins (9 pts, 5 rebounds), Jada Higgins (9 pts, 6 rebs, 3 assists), and Jasmine Flowers (10 pts, 5 rebs.) led the starting lineup, playing with a high level of intensity and toughness throughout. Freshman Bell Sparks led all scorers for our Lady Knights off the bench with 11 points while also adding in a very strong defensive performance.
The second half run put forth by the Lady Knights came up just short, falling to Johnson University 62-58. We are now 11-10 on the season with a conference record of 8-9. The Lady Knights will look to get back to their winning ways when they play host to Union this Tuesday, January 31st.
Who's Up Next
