Markell Hood Reaches Career 1,000-Point Milestone
Grayson, Ky. — Kentucky Christian University men's basketball standout Markell Hood reached a significant career milestone on January 29, 2026, scoring the 1,000th point of his collegiate career during the Knights' home contest at Kentucky Christian University.
Hood achieved the milestone in the first half, securing a rebound before attacking the defense off the dribble and knocking down a pull-up mid-range jumper. The basket marked a memorable moment for the Knights and was recognized by teammates, coaches, and fans in attendance.
"Markell Hood transferred in mid-year last season and has become a leader and outstanding teammate at KCU," said Head Basketball Coach Charlie Pack. "I'm most proud of his development into a complete teammate, strong leader, and highly skilled player. He's one of the best athletes I've coached during my time at KCU, and it's been rewarding to watch him grow both on and off the floor."
Since joining the program, Hood has been a consistent offensive contributor and leader for the Knights. His path to the 1,000-point milestone reflects perseverance, growth, and commitment to the program.
"Coach Pack brought me in mid-year last season at a time when I was honestly ready to be done with basketball," Hood said. "Coming here helped me regain my joy for the game. He's helped me grow both on and off the floor, and I'm extremely grateful for the opportunity he gave me and for believing in me. It's a testament to the work we've put in since I arrived on campus that 600 of my 1,000 points have come while playing for him."
Hood also credited his teammates for their support and the team culture at Kentucky Christian.
"To my teammates, Lemar Northington, Jayden Loyd, Xarek, and Dlo. You mean more to me than they know," Hood said. "They welcomed me in, allowed me to blend with them, and now we're starting to win games together. But this milestone is really a credit to the entire team. The way all 20 guys compete and push each other every day made this possible."
In addition, Hood expressed gratitude to the broader KCU community.
"And to the University and Dave Manning, thank you for embracing me and welcoming me with open arms," Hood said.
Kentucky Christian University congratulates Markell Hood on reaching this significant milestone and looks forward to his continued success as a Knight.
