Knights fall to Div. 1 UNC Asheville
Kentucky Christian continued to show growth and competitiveness in a challenging road environment, putting together a strong offensive response and active defensive effort at Kimmel Arena. The Knights finished with 73 points, improving their shooting efficiency in the second half and receiving contributions throughout the lineup.
Jayden Loydd led Kentucky Christian with a complete two-way performance. The guard scored 16 points, knocking down 2-of-3 from beyond the arc and a perfect 6-for-6 at the free-throw line. Loydd was especially disruptive defensively, collecting five steals, while adding four rebounds and an assist in 29 minutes.
Matching Loydd in scoring was Markell Hood, who also finished with 16 points. Hood remained aggressive offensively, taking on a high-volume role and pulling down four rebounds. His ability to attack and stay involved helped stabilize the Knights' offense throughout the game.
LeMar Northington II delivered one of the most efficient outings of the night, scoring 14 points on 6-of-10 shooting. Playing a team-high 36 minutes, Northington contributed four rebounds and an assist while providing steady leadership in the backcourt.
D'Angelo Stoxstill added toughness and effort in extended minutes, finishing with 10 points and three rebounds, including two on the offensive glass. His physical play helped Kentucky Christian generate second-chance opportunities.
In the starting lineup, Preston Saia chipped in a three-pointer and an assist, playing clean basketball with no turnovers in 19 minutes.
Off the bench, Parker Watts provided a valuable spark, scoring 11 points and converting all six of his free throws. Watts also contributed four rebounds and two assists, helping maintain offensive pressure. Matthew Ruegge made the most of his opportunities, shooting 1-for-1 from the field and from three-point range, while adding a rebound and an assist. Jordyn Lawson added defensive minutes and a rebound in limited action.
As a team, Kentucky Christian shot 36.9% from the field, but showed significant improvement after halftime, raising their shooting percentage to 41.9% in the second half. The Knights were efficient at the line, finishing 18-of-22 (81.8%), and were aggressive defensively, forcing turnovers that led to 26 points off turnovers.
Kentucky Christian also matched its opponent in fast-break and second-chance points, reflecting a commitment to pace and hustle. The Knights will be back in action on Dec. 31 2 p.m. EST @ Ohio Dominican.
