Valentine’s Clutch Hitting Propels KCU Knights To Victory Over Kent State Tuscarawas

Valentine drove in four runs on one hit to lead KCU Knights past Kent State Tuscarawas 20-4 on Tuesday. In the fifth inning, Valentine hit a grand slam to left field.
Kent State Tuscarawas got on the board in the first inning after Ruhter doubled, scoring one run.
KCU Knights took the lead, 4-1, in the bottom of the first thanks to singles by Atafua, and McLaughlin.
KCU Knights scored five runs on three hits in the bottom of the second inning. Simpson doubled, scoring one run, Odell singled, scoring one run, McLaughlin singled, scoring two runs, and Wright was struck by a pitch, driving in a run.
A single by Scott extended the KCU Knights lead to 10-4 in the bottom of the third inning.
KCU Knights scored six runs on two hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Markwell drew a walk, scoring one run, Simpson grounded out, scoring one run, Baker induced Gerena to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored, Odell singled, scoring two runs, and McLaughlin singled, scoring one run.
Breaux earned the win for KCU Knights. The starting pitcher gave up four hits and four runs over three innings, striking out two and walking six. Castillo took the loss for Kent State Tuscarawas. The hurler went one inning, giving up eight runs on six hits, striking out none and walking one. Frymoyer and Seawright each came on in relief for KCU Knights and shutdown Kent State Tuscarawas.
KCU Knights '26 accumulated 15 hits in the game. McLaughlin and Odell were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected three hits for KCU Knights while hitting back-to-back. Simpson collected two hits for KCU Knights in four at bats. Gerena stole three bases. KCU Knights stole four bases in the game. KCU Knights turned one double play in the game. KCU Knights didn't commit a single error in the field. Markwell had the most chances in the field with six.
