Grayson, KY- In a game that went down to the last seconds, the moral of the story was to win the second half as you did the first. As the score indicates, everything about this game was a toss-up, whether it be the scoreboard, stats or the final play, a razor thin margin determined the 28-31 score that fell in Thomas More?s favor.
For the Knights, the team produced 347 yards of total offense with 106 yards on the ground and the other 241 in the air. KCU had 18 first downs in 61 total plays and averaged 5.7 yds/play. Defensively, they produced four sacks (22 yds lost) and grabbed two interceptions and a fumble while having 111 total tackles (25 solo; 86 assisted).
Individually, Tyler Haas, was 17-32 for 241 yards with a long connection of 47 yards. He threw for two touchdowns and added 17 yds rushing. Haas also suffered two picks.
On the ground, Davonte Williams rushed for 53 yards and two touchdowns as well. For all players in the game with more than one carry, his 7.6 yds/carry led everyone. Jerald Daniels and Austin Mullins had 24 and 12 rushing yards, respectively.
Davonte Williams led the receiving corps as well; he grabbed six passes for 90 yards. Deterius Gideon and Vincent Taylor hauled in a TD each while accounting for a combined five completions.
Looking at special teams, Knights kicker, Paul Rodriguez was a perfect 4-4 in extra-point attempts and averaged 49.8 yards/kickoff while Connor Ignacio averaged 34 yds/punt in his eight attempts. Gideon and Williams were credited with a combined 106 kickoff return yards.
For the defense, Ellis Reed had 14 total tackles and was the only Knight to reach double figures in that category. Just behind Reed were Zachary Thomas (9) and the duo of Justin Lewis/Yamar Woods with seven tackles each. Cornelius Cutliff and Shedrick Smith accounted for the two interceptions by the KCU defense.
