KCU Volleyball Loses in Three to Bluefield

Grayson, KY - The current #3 volleyball team in the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) made a visit to the Kentucky Christian campus an looked every bit the part. Bluefield took the match 0-3 (15-25, 15-25, 26-28) and maintained their spot as a Top-3 program in the AAC.

For the VolleyKnights, Naomi Naugler led the team, both offensively and defensively. Naugler hit .571 with nine kills in 14 total attack attempts and only had one error. That is half the story as she was credited with three solo and one assisted block. Kristin Upshaw-Mendoza was just behind her statistically with seven kills, hitting .312. Wrapping up those with five or more kills for the night was Delanie Gilliland (5). Hannah Cron had 12 assists to lead KCU in that area while Lacey Morris had a 4-ace evening.

Defensively, Upshaw-Mendoza had 10 digs, producing yet another double-double this season. Emily Adkins also registered three solo blocks.

Who's Up Next

KCU travel to Tennessee this coming weekend for two days of AAC play. First up will be the Bulldogs of Tennessee Wesleyan (6:30 PM) on Friday. Saturday's opponent will be the AAC’s current #1 ranked team, Bryan College. The Bryan match is scheduled to begin at 11:00 AM.
