Knights Run Roughshod Over Rams
Grayson, KY – The KCU Knights football team ran their record to 2-0 this spring as they held the home field advantage with a 45-0 victory over the visiting Rams of Bluefield College. It was Kentucky Christian's most lop-sided win in school history as well as the first shutout for the football program.
KCU posted their first score within the opening five minutes of play and never really looked back. That touchdown pass from Jakwon Roberts (SR/Smiths Station, AL) to Jaylen Hawthorne (SO/Harrisburg, PA) was the first of four TD passes for Roberts during Sunday's action.
Knights Stats
- Roberts finished 23-31 passing for 271 yards and the aforementioned four TDs with zero (0) picks and a long completion of 40-yds.
- With 106 yds on 22 rushes and a touchdown, Da'Anta Sipp led a rushing unit that ground out 352 net yards. For the game, five different Knights rushed for 40 or more yards against the Rams.
- Diego Soto (FR/Orange Park, FL) led the receivers with seven catches for 122 yds and two touchdowns while Hawthorne and Brendan Ray (JR/Birmingham, AL) hauled in a touchdown each.
- Defensively, Devin Bacchus (JR/Homewood, AL) was credited with eight total tackles (4 solo / 4 assisted) and a sack with the duo of Trey Malashevich (SR/Ceredo, WV) and Quamari Tinsley (SR/Owensboro, KY) accounting for five tackles each.
- In the secondary, Tyquan Flemming (SO/Cincinnati, OH) and Phedarrius Thompson (SR/Somerville, TN) broke up two passes each with Jakobe North (SO/Harvest, AL) and Larrey Williams (FR/Tallahassee, FL) both getting an interception.

- The defense held Bluefield to 128 total net yards from scrimmage.
- Offensively, KCU was +27 in first downs and produced 625 net total yards.

- Both sides of the ball doing their jobs won this game in convincing fashion.
