Volleyball Picks Up AAC Road Win
Columbia, SC – The KCU women's volleyball team is in Columbia, SC for an AAC weekend of volleyball. The first match saw the Knights take on the Koalas of Columbia College and walk away with a four-set win.
Kentucky Christian won Set 1 by the narrowest of margins at 25-23, but the home-standing Koalas stormed back to take the second set at 25-17. Following the Set 2 loss, KCU won the final two sets by identical 25-19 scores.
For the Knights, Kiahna Holmen (JR/Encinitas, CA) led the team in kills with 13 following closely by Avery Crum (SR/Winter Garden, FL)'s 10. Both Crum and Holmen topped off their statistical evening by having double-doubles when they added 16 and 24 digs to their stat lines. Ally Whitall (SR/Sacramento, CA) just missed double figure kills with nine and Arin Owens (FR/Blacklick, OH) chipped in seven. Three other Knights reached double digit dig totals as Darby Flickinger (SO/Knoxville, TN) (22), Olivia Barrett (JR/Huntington, WV) (13) and Kristin Upshaw-Mendoza (FR/San Antonio, TX) (12) all hit that plateau. Flickinger also had an assist/dig double-double when she was credited with 25 assists. April Stiers (JR/Anderson, IN) connected on 11 assists for her nights work to bring their total to 36 assists.
At the net defensively, Holmen and Whitall added a solo and assisted block each along with an assisted block for both Stiers and Delanie Gilliland (FR/Portsmouth, OH).
The Knights finish their weekend road trip with a stop at Allen University for an 11:00AM match against the Yellow Jackets.
