Cross Country Teams Compete at AAC CC Championship

Canton, GA – The Kentucky Christian University cross country teams competed in the Appalachian Athletic Conference Championship this weekend. The KCU men finished 7th of 14 while the women came in 6th of 15.
KCU Men / 8K
- CJ Kelley (FR/Garfield Heights, OH) paced the Knights with his 26:13.8, which was good enough to place him in the AAC Top-20. For his efforts during the cross country season, Kelley was named to the AAC All-Freshman Men's Team. His placement was strong enough to punch his ticket to the NAIA Men's Cross Country National Championship to be held in Vancouver, WA on November 19, 2021.
- Finishing just behind Kelley, James Overholser (SO/Sharpsburg, KY) and Payton Herron (FR/Cedarville, OH) with times of 27:11.6 and 27:16.3, respectively.
- Quay Harrison (FR/Ironton, OH) came in with a 28:28.9, followed by Trace Shearer (FR/Lawrenceburg, KY)'s 31:26.7.
KCU Women / 5K
- In the women's race, Jordan Riley (FR/Russell, KY) led KCU with a time of 19:48.5. Her time was also good enough to claim a spot in the NAIA Women's Cross Country National Championship. The women's race will also be held in Vancouver, WA on November 19, 2021.
- Sydney Reed (FR/Waverly, OH) was named to the AAC Women's All-Freshman Team for her times during 2021. She finished behind Riley and posted a time of 20:16.3 during the conference championship.
- Following them, Samantha Reed (FR/Waverly, OH) and Julia Graves (SO/Winchester, KY) ran times of 20:57.5 for Reed and Graves' 21:05.2.
- Rounding out the KCU times were Abriella Edelen (FR/Shelbyville, KY) with a 21:42.8 and Emily Brackob (SO/Taylorsville, KY) with a 23:33.0.
The Winning Factor
- The Eagles put up 15 more shots during the game and that was the difference.

The Knights CCT&F will now move into the indoor track and field season.
