Senior Night at the KCU Knight Invite
It was Senior Night at the KCU Knight Invite as the track team honored its two senior runners. Jaimie Rodriguez from Bebe, Arkansas was honored for his contributions to the team in the long sprints and medium distance. "It has been a pleasure working with Jaimie," said Coach Dodd Dixon. Also honored was KCU Track Team Captain, Tanner Hughes. Hughes, a native of Dillsboro, Indiana is a long sprinter for the team, specializing in the 400m dash and 4x400m relay. "Tanner has been the go-to heartbeat of the team this season," said Coach Dixon. "Tanner is a resource for our coaching staff. Hughes has recently expanded the use of his talents into the javelin. Coach Kelly McNamara has done an excellent job teaching Tanner the javelin. We have high expectations for Tanner in the post-season in the javelin," said Dixon. The Knight Invite was the first ever home track meet for KCU. The men's track team came away with a win over the competition with a high score of 55 points. Leading the men's team for KCU was Kayden Mansco, who placed first in the long jump, triple jump, and 200m dash. Tanner Hughes placed first in the javelin with a throw of 34.38m (112'9"). Hughes placed second in the 200m and 400m dash. Jaimie Rodriguez was the team's top distance runner winning the 1600m. Rodriguez was also second in the 800m race. Jordaan Miranda won the 400m dash for the Knights along with the 100m dash. Ben Morris placed second in the 100m. Sam Van Huss rounded out the KCU Track Team competing in the javelin and placing sixth in the event. The meet was concluded by the 4x400m relay. Competing in the event were Kayden Mansco, Jordaan Miranda, Jaimie Rodriguez, and Tanner Hughes, finishing first in this event. Alice Lloyd College placed second in the final team score.
