Knights Lose Opener at Cumberlands Classic
Williamsburg, KY – The Kentucky Christian University's men's basketball team returned to the hardwood following a 13 day lay-off by traveling to the University of the Cumberlands for their basketball classic. Unfortunately KCU dropped a 75-99 decision to the host Patriots.
UC (RV) held a 13-point lead at the half and stretched that margin to a 24-point victory on the strength of the work on the boards. The Knights lost the battle on the "glass" by 21 total boards which accounted almost entirely for the 22 additional shots the Patriots were able to put up.
KCU senior, Hayden Dunn, led the team with 31 points on 12-25 shooting from the field with two made 3-pointers and pulled down a team-leading six rebounds. Trenton Walker and Owens Crawford chipped in nine and eight points respectively. While 10 Knights reached the scoring column, it was not enough to hand UC a loss on their home court.
The Knights finish tournament play tomorrow by taking on the current #21 Campbellsville University. Game time is set for 2:00 PM.
