Knights Lose to #2 Grace Bible in Nail-Biter
Grayson, KY – Kentucky Christian's men's basketball team opened the 2017 Super 8 Classic against the #2 team in the country and when the dust had settled, KCU dropped a two-point decision, 90-92 to the Tigers.
The Knights held a five-point lead at the half (41-36) but couldn't overcome a torrid shooting Grace Bible that made almost 65% (16/25) of their second half shots. As the half progressed, the only way KCU remained in the game was their ability to control three key statistical categories: assists, turnovers and steals. Every other category was basically even aside from the total number of free throws taken which Grace held a +10 for the night.
Offensively, the Knights placed four players in double figures led by Hayden Dunn's 21 points on 8/17 from the field and 5/6 from the charity stripe. Matthew Lee and Owens Crawford tallied 18 and 14 points, respectively. The fourth member of the club was Brandon Barnes, who had 11 points and was 4/5 from the free throw line. Also providing some punch for the Knights were Trenton Walker's and his nine points and seven assists to go along with Chase Porter's four steals and 10 rebounds, both team highs.
KCU will return to the Damron Hall of Champions for tomorrow's 8:00PM game versus the Carolina Christian College.
