Knights Take Mideast Region Opener
Grayson, KY – KCU opened NCCAA II Mideast region play by defeating Welch College (TN) 93-74.
With the win, the Knights (4-7) continue to navigate their way through an extremely difficult first semester schedule. Before the semester concludes, KCU will play 15 NCAA or NAIA contests with two being against NCAA I opponents.
Leading the way for the Knights was Hayden Dunn who collected a double-double with 23 points on 9-16 shooting from the field and 16 rebounds, both being game bests. He also dished out seven assists to go with two steals. Brandon Barnes and Owens Crawford had 15 points each on identical 5-11 shooting from the floor. Crawford led the team from behind the arc with four made three-point shots and a team high three steals.
On a night when 10 different Knights got into the scoring column and grabbed a rebound, it is easy to see how KCU controlled the game throughout the vast majority of the 40 minutes. KCU returns to action on Thursday as they open play in the Super-8 Classic. The three-day event brings together four men's and women's basketball teams for some great early season action. The Knights open the tournament with Grace Bible College. The tip set for 8:00 pm.
