Knights Football Joins AAC
GRAYSON, KY – The Kentucky Christian University athletic department is pleased to announce the 2022 Knights Football schedule. Head Coach Jacob Russell will be entering his second season at the helm and looks to build off a 3-7 record in his initial campaign.
Unlike the 2021 season in the previously assembled Mid-South Conference (MSC), KCU is now competing in the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) as the league now sponsors football as a championship sport. The conference opponents should be familiar to Knights fans as they are composed of schools from the MSC Appalachian Division.
The new AAC lineup is Bluefield University (VA), Point University (GA), Reinhardt University (GA), St. Andrews University (NC), and Union College (KY). Kentucky Christian will play league opponents Bluefield and Union twice this season, but only the second meeting will count toward conference standings.
KCU will open the 2022, 11-game season, by hosting Georgetown College and Thomas More University only to follow up those games with two on the road at Pikeville and NCAA I Morehead State University. The Knights settle into AAC play as the final seven contests will consist of games against Point, Reinhardt, and St. Andrews, along with the previously mentioned games against Bluefield and Union.
