Knights Lose to Reinhardt in Season Finale
November 14, 2021
Grayson, KY – If this game had been a 30-minute contest, the Knights would have sent their 21 seniors off with a 9-0 win. However, there were 30 more minutes to play and the #7 Eagles showed why they have achieved that lofty ranking. RU posted six straight touchdowns, seven overall, in the second half while KCU could only manage one. The Knights lost 15-49.
Knights Stats
- Riley Cooper (SR/Columbus, OH) was 16-33 for 111 yards with a touchdown and an interception. He faced strong pressure from the RU defense and was sacked three times in addition to multiple hurries and knockdowns.
- On the ground, Jordan Brown (FR/Knoxville, TN) led KCU with 89 yds on 19 rushes including a 44-yd scamper for the lone Knights rushing touchdown.
- Kody Washington (SR/Jesup, GA) hauled in the other Knight TD with a 17-yd connection with Cooper.
Team Totals
- The opening score for KCU was a safety.
- By coughing up the ball four times (3 fumbles/1 interception), the Knights dug themselves a hole they could not recover from.
The Winning Factor
- By forcing so many turnovers, Reinhardt produced so many more quick score opportunities even though KCU held nearly a 10-minute advantage in overall time of possession.
