Knights Move Record to 3-0
Grayson, KY – For the second consecutive week, KCU found themselves on the familiar turf of Knights Stadium. This time there were two sets of Knights competing to stay undefeated in the Mid-South Conference Appalachian Division.
St. Andrews University (NC) knew they had an uphill battle trying to win this important division game on the road and following a successful 30-yd field goal to take a 1-pt lead with 3:30 remaining, it looked very promising. But the home-standing Knights had other plans as they moved the ball 57 yards in seven plays to take a 5-pt lead with 1:18 on the clock. KCU's defense held and the Knights claimed a 29-24 win.
Knights Stats
- De'Anta Sipp (SR/Senatobia, MS) led all rushers with 227 rushing yards (235 All-Purpose) from scrimmage including a 1st quarter 54-yd scamper for a touchdown. Sipp would also collect the game winning score on a 1-yd plunge in the fourth. Also contributing to the ground game, Dae'vontay Latimer (SO/Dayton, OH) added 39 yards.
- Taking the snaps from center, Jakwon Roberts (SR/Smiths Station, AL) was 21-36 for 187 yards and two touchdowns with an interception. He also gained 22-yds rushing.
- Brendon Ray grabbed three passes for 34-yds and a pair of touchdowns. Traveon Auzenne (SO/Houston, TX) led KCU with five catches, just ahead of Jaylen Hawthorne (SO/Harrisburg, PA) and Diego Soto (FR/Orange Park, FL) who snagged four passes each.
- Reaching double-digits in tackles, Anthony Grant (SO/Augusta, GA) recorded a team-high 14 tackles (5-solo and 9-assisted tackles). The trio of James Castleberry (SR/Woodstock, GA), Jacobi Emery (SR/Louisburg, NC), and Ethan Owens (SR/Tracy, CA) had eight tackles each.
