Knights Football Loses at Bluefield
Bluefield, VA – Both teams had lost a game when the unfortunate news came down that Cincinnati Christian University would not be able to finish their season. For KCU it was their last game of the season against their rival sister-school and for Bluefield it was their senior night. So it was logical for the two schools to get together and finish their seasons on the field.
When the game had concluded, it was the Rams that sent their seniors off with a win, 12-30, even though KCU had led for most of the game. But the cold, rainy conditions became a factor as BC won the turnover battle (KCU-6; BC-2) and ultimately, the game, as the Knights could not overcome five interceptions and a fumble.
Kentucky Christian led in most of the statistical categories … First Downs: 13-9; Total Offense: 256-135 yards; Total Offensive Plays: 82-62; Passing Yards: 185-59; etc. and the list goes on but they were unable to win the most important category on this night which was turnovers.
For the Knights, Josh Drucker threw for 185 yds and a touchdown but was sacked four times to go with the aforementioned interceptions. On the ground, De'Anta Sipp rushed for 92 yds on 30 attempts while Kris Lewis accounted for 116 receiving yards on 10 catches and DeVon McCoy snagged four catches for 60 yds. Eric Parra Curiel connected on his two field goal attempts and averaged a very respectable 39.7 yds/kick for his six boots.
KCU now moves into the off-season and the all-important "recruiting" season to help maintain and extend the momentum gained throughout 2019.
