Knights Open Conference Play with Loss to Reinhardt
Grayson, KY – It was a tough way to open Appalachian Division play taking on the #21 Reinhardt University Eagles but that was the task in front of Kentucky Christian. At the end of play, the Eagle proved they were worthy of their lofty ranking by handing the Knights a 21-71 loss.
RU scored on their first two possessions of the game and led the game 12-0 following a missed PAT and subsequent two-point conversion. KCU then got on the board via a 34-yd rush by De'Anta Sipp (JR/Senatobia, MS) to pull the Knights to within five points following the successful PAT from Eric Parra Curiel (SR/Victorville, CA).
Unfortunately, the remainder of the game was at minimum, a two-for-one scoring system in Reinhardt's favor as they put two more scores up before KCU could add their next touchdown and then two additional TDs to take a 40-14 lead into the half. The Knights got a third quarter touchdown but it would do little to shift the momentum as RU would find the end zone for four second-half scores along with a 42-yd field goal.
KCU quarterback, Josh Drucker (SO/Carrollton, TX), who was under pressure the entire game, managed to throw for 210 yards and two TDs. Leading the Knights ground game, De'Anta Sipp rushed for 156 total yards and another 31 yards through the air. Kris Lewin and Anton Wheeler (SR/Birmingham, AL) hit paydirt as they accounted for the other two Knight touchdowns.
Kentucky Christian enters their bye week and resumes playing by traveling to St. Andrews University for an afternoon contest on October 19th. Kickoff is set for 1:30PM.
