Gridiron Knights Lose Tight Road Game
Valley, AL – The Knights made their way to the Georgia/Alabama border for a match-up with the SkyHawks of Point University. In a game that was closely contested throughout a very hot afternoon, KCU was unable to put together a final fourth-quarter drive to steal another conference road win.
The final two Knight possessions prior to the buzzer ended in a punt and on downs. A Pick-6 by Isreal Bennett brought the deficit to four points following a missed extra point and placed KCU in a position to bring home the win. But it was not to be.
Offensively, Kentucky Christian was led in All-Purpose yards by Javin Harrison's 97 yds. Bennett and Cameron Moody added 87 and 84 yds., respectively. On the ground, Harrison gained 88 yds. on 22 carries for a 4.0 rushing average and one touchdown. The Knights gained 167 yds. through the air and had two receivers with 50+ receiving yds. as Devon McCoy (59) and Brendon Matheson (54) led the team with their afternoon's work.
Another positive for the game was the fact the Knights scored touchdowns in all three facets of the game as Bennett also converted a special team blocked punt into a score to go with his aforementioned Pick-6. Harrison's offensive TD rounded out the football trifecta of an offensive, defensive and special team's scores. Eric Parra Curiel's 24 yd. field goal rounded out the Knights scoring for the game.
Kentucky Christian finally returns to the friendly confines of Knights stadium next Saturday to host the University of the Cumberlands in the first of two consecutive home games. The Kick-off is set for 1:30PM.
