Knights Football Gets Big Road Win
Lakeland, FL – After a last minute site change, Kentucky Christian University made the trip to Florida to take on the Royals of Warner University at Lakeland Christian High School. Both teams were looking for their first win in this young season and the Knights came away with the 41-34 victory.
The KCU offense amassed a season-high 573 total yards (Rushing: 136, Passing: 437) and 21 first-downs. With a total of 79 plays, evenly split between the run and passing (40/39), the Knights averaged 3.4 yds/carry on the ground and a strong 11.2 yds/completion. Javin Harrison and Darian Rawls both averaged 3.7 yds/carry with Harrison gaining 59 yds to lead the team.
Through the air, Jug Smith completed 8-12 passes for 254 yds and three touchdowns. Throwing for the only other passing score, Jakwon Roberts completed 12-25 attempts for 147 yds. On the receiving end of those passes, the trio of Cristian Ceja (96 yds), Devon McCoy (65 yds) and Anton Wheeler (101) each accounted for a touchdown.
Defensively, Austin Archey, Harmand St. Hubert and Quamari Tinsley registered nine tackles each with Tre Malashevich adding eight. The defense collected 8.5 tackles for loss that led to 84 yds.
Kentucky Christian finishes the last date of this three-game road swing as they travel to West Point, GA to battle the SkyHawks of Point University Kick-off is set for 1:30PM.
