KCU 7-on-7 Classic / Friday, July 22
The purpose of the 7 on 7 Classic is for your team to improve as a team; to have fun; to come together as a team; to get as many reps on offense and defense as time allows. We will emphasize SAFETY and GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP throughout the day.
FOOTBALL FIELD: All games will be played on the beautiful campus of Kentucky Christian University; we will use Knights Stadium (artificial turf) and if necessary 2 full length & width grass fields; playing fields are 40 yards long, with a normal end zone.
TIME: All games will be 20 minutes in length; with a running clock; we will attempt to use the scoreboard clock for timing purposes; we will not use the 25 second clock; however, teams will have 25 seconds to snap the ball after the ball has been spotted from the previous play.
*** A suggestion from a few coaches last year was that we consider equal possessions, not a time limit; we can discuss this with those Head Coaches in attendance.
GAME PLAY: Normal game rules will apply, with a few exceptions
- Offense will have 4 plays to get 20 yards; and then 4 plays to score
- Offense – after the snap, will have 4 seconds to throw the ball
- Defense – 1 (one) hand touch to stop the play
- If a snap is muffed, dropped, etc. the play continues
- If a ball is fumbled, SAFETY is first! The official will have the liberty to blow the play dead or let it play out (if there are any safety concerns, the play will be blown dead and ball will remain the possession of the fumbling team)
SCORING:
- Offense – 6 points for a touchdown
- Defense – 6 points for touchdown (cross the 40)
- Defense – 3 points for take-away
COST: 1 team per high school – cost is $50; 2 teams per high school – cost is $75; 3 or more teams per high school – cost is $90
Teams should contact Steve Barrows at sdbarrows@kcu.edu or 606-474-3137 with any questions and to register.
