KCU Cross Country's Robbins Qualifies for Nationals
Kentucky Christian University's cross country team competed at Wilberforce University this week, where sophomore Sallie Robbins secured a spot at the national championships by winning the women's 5K race.
Robbins completed the course in a time that met the qualifying standard for the national meet in Joplin, Missouri. "It was so exciting to qualify for Nationals with my first 5K of the season! All glory to God!" Robbins said.
In the men's competition, KCU's Ayden Reed placed second overall, finishing behind Wilberforce's Sky Howard. Teammates Zechariah Hunter and Sam Van Huss secured fifth and seventh places, respectively, contributing to a strong team performance.
The Knights began their season on August 29 at Asbury University. In that meet, the women's team competed in a 2-mile race, with Robbins finishing in 15:44.3. The men's team participated in a 5K event, featuring Reed, Hunter, and Van Huss.
KCU's cross country team is scheduled to compete next at Berea College on September 13.
