Woodard / Pence Named to All-AAC Teams
Kingsport, TN – The Kentucky Christian University men’s basketball team has had two members named to the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) for their efforts during the 2022-23 basketball season. David Woodard (SR) was named to the AAC 1st Team while Kirk Pence (FR) was on the All-Freshman Team. Both honored by a vote of the AAC men’s conference coaches.
Woodard averaged 17.6 ppg while shooting 45.6% from the floor and 38.1% from behind the arc. He also grabbed 4.5 rpg and dished out 1.4 apg. On January 14th, he posted his season-high in points by having 35 against Reinhardt University. During that same game, he produced his high in rebounds for the season with 11. It was the second of consecutive games Woodard had a double-double … the game before playing RU against Bluefield University, he collected 17 pts and 11 rebs.
By averaging 11.1 ppg and 4.3 rpg, Pence caught the attention of the conference coaches. He shot 42.9% from the floor and 37.7% from the 3-pt line. At the charity stripe, he hit a very good 75.6% and handed out 1.8 apg. He produced single-game highs of 22 points against Union College (1/31) and 11 rebounds versus Bryan College (2/11). Pence played 32.6 minutes per game.
