KCU Battles, Falls to Johnson University
Graysom, KY – Our Knights have battled adversity this season, and they keep showing up each game ready to play, to battle their opponents, to show their care for the University, the coaches, and of course their teammates. Often short-handed, or undersized, we have seen steady improvements from our squad, led by Coach Charlie Pack. January 28th at Ron Arnett Court against the Royals of Johnson University was another day of improvement and growth for the Knights.
The Knights led much of the first half, falling behind just before halftime, where they trailed the Royals 37-36. The first 11 minutes of the second half followed the same script as the first, with each team giving as well as they got. The game was tied at 60 with 9 minutes remaining before momentum started shifting the Royals way.
Today saw Senior David Woodard continue to play high-level basketball, finishing with a team high 26 points and 7 rebounds on 55% shooting from the field. Deandre Ross continues to use his athleticism and talent to finish around the rim, scoring 17 points with 5 rebounds. Kerby Dumay and freshman Kirk Pence both added 10 points to round out our double-digit scorers for the day.
Coach Pack looks to get the Knights back on track this upcoming Tuesday January 31st, at home against Union. Our Knights moved to 5-18 on the season, and 5-14 in conference play.
