KCU Falls after Hard Fought Performance
Grayson, KY - The KCU Knights came into Saturday’s contest versus Reinhardt undersized, and undermanned, yet jumped out to a 41-38 at halftime behind David Woodard’s huge first-half showing, dropping in an efficient 22 points. Coach Pack and his squad came out with great intensity defensively, holding the Reinhardt University Eagles to 39.4% from the field and 33% from 3-point land in the opening 20 minutes.
The 2nd half was hotly contested, with Reinhardt slowly growing their lead towards the end of the game, resulting in an 88-74 loss for our Knights, pushing us to 4-15 overall and 4-11 in conference play.
Senior leader David Woodard led our team with 35 points and 11 rebounds, shooting a blistering 14-19 from the field, hit 3 of 6 three pointers, and 4 of 6 at the free throw line. David McCallum Jr. added in 15 points and 5 boards, while Deondre Ross also poured in 15 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists. The combo of McCallum and Ross also combined to shoot 16-16 from the free throw line on a day where as a team KCU shot 21-25 (84%) from the stripe.
Coach Pack continues to show his acumen as coach, and shows his ability to get the best out of his players. Pack and this group have shown improvement over the course of the season, while facing plenty of adversity along the way. There is a lot to be proud of and excited about here for our men’s team, as well as our Lady Knights.
Kentucky Christian suits up again January 17th at Milligan, looking to score their 5th win of the season.
