Lady Knights Win; Men Lose at Johnson
Grayson, KY - Following a brief break in Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) play (men), the KCU men and women returned to AAC action by traveling to Johnson University-TN for a men’s/women’s doubleheader. After play had concluded, the two teams split the evening’s play.
The Lady Knights opened play by defeating the Lady Royals by a score of 65-47, followed by the men dropping an 85-100 decision in a high-scoring contest.
For the women, Jada Higgins led all scorers with 21 pts on 7-15 shooting for the floor and a 7-9 night at the free throw line. She also added five rebounds, three assists and two blocks. Kylie Gilliam just misses double figures with nine points but had seven rebounds in just 16 minutes of play.
It was crazy eights for Lakyn Adkins who claimed eight points and a team leading eight rebounds to go with three assists, two steals and a block. Jasmine Flowers led the Lady Knights in steals with three.
On the men’s side, five Knights reached double-digits with Deondre Ross leading the way. Ross had 19 pts on 9-18 shooting with a 3-pter. He collected six rebounds and two each of assists and steals.
Kourtney Ware was next in line with 18 pts, shooting 5-9 with a three and 7-8 from the charity stripe. Kerby Dumay led the Knights in rebounds with nine.
Who's Up Next
The Lady Knights and Knights will host the Skyhawks of Point University on Saturday. The women’s tip is set for 12:00 PM with the men’s game set for 2:00 PM.
