VolleyKnights Claim Conference Road Victory
Laurinburg, NC - The KCU women’s volleyball team found themselves on the road tonight for their AAC (Appalachian Athletic Conference) matchup. Going into the contest there was one certainty, the Knights would win! The big question was which set of Knights would get the victory as St. Andrews University was determined to protect their home court … but KCU had other ideas. Kentucky Christian grabbed the 3-2 win (25-19, 13-25, 18-25, 25-18, and 15-11).
Offensively, three different players for KCU reached the double-digit threshold in kills. Kristin Upshaw-Mendoza led Kentucky Christian with 17 kills and when 12 digs are added, she has yet another double-double. Also part of that crew, Delanie Gilliland collected 13 kills and two solo and two assisted blocks while the last member of the double figure kill group, Grace Morris had 12 kills and four assisted blocks.
On the defensive side of the stat sheet, KCU also had three players reach double figures in digs with Ashlyn Funk leading the way. She posted 20 while Anna Cruser chipped in 15 as well as Upshaw-Mendoza’s 12. Emily Adkins had four assisted blocks to raise that total to 16 for the match.
Kileigh Boggs (25) and Lyndi Starkey (22) combined for 47 assists and Starkey added three aces.
Who's Up Next
