KCU-GCU Play to Tie
Aug 26, 2022

Grayson, KY - The Kentucky Christian University men's soccer team welcomed the Tigers from Grace Christian University to Knights Stadium. Both programs are very familiar with each other, as they have competed over several decades. In the most recent edition, the first half ended in a 1-1 (KCU: Ethan Combs/GCU: Payton Jeltema) tie but that was changed as a GCU goal by Ethan DeWitt (36?) gave the Tigers a 1-2 lead.

A 30-minute weather delay sent both teams to the locker room and upon resuming the game; DeWitt scored his second goal in five minutes pushing the Tiger lead to 1-3. The score would remain the same for almost 30 minutes of clock time. In the 86th minute, Ethan Combs found the net for his second goal of the game (unassisted) cutting the lead to one.

Just two minutes later, Douglas Porter netted a pass from Daniel LaRue to tie the game again, this time at 3-3. With less than two minutes remaining in the game, both teams scrambled to score the winning goal but were unable to do so. With the final horn, both teams will have to be satisfied with the draw.

For KCU, Combs two goals came on only three shots on goal. Porter had a goal and assist while Larue claimed an assist as well.
